Mr. Michael Berman has more than 20 years of executive experience under varied leadership and management titles in diverse businesses including start-up and turn-around situations. Mike knows what to look for when resolving corporate problems. He has found that problems often exhibit themselves in a company's apparent area of strength and if left unchecked, any great strength ultimately becomes the greatest weakness. He takes a holistic approach and integrates changes throughout the organization to stimulate significant results that are sustainable.
He employs keen observation skills to analyze situations objectively. He designs operational strategies and implements changes with a degree of humility, neither placing blame nor claiming personal credit. He is an ethical leader, accomplished sales and marketing individual, and a transformational manager who specializes in turning around underperforming organizations.
Prior to joining Merisel as Vice President and Chief Client Officer in 2010, Mr. Berman served as Chief Operating Officer of Outside Ventures, LLC, an independent sales organization primarily focused on credit card processing and cash advances to businesses (2007 through 2009). In 2007, when he was recruited as the COO for Outside Ventures, the parent company for several B2B services businesses with a particular concentration in merchant services. Mike Berman instilled business disciplines and structure to an out-of-control or failing business.
Mike strives to model himself after those he admires including Galileo, who remained true to his convictions in the face of political and religious opposition, and Winston Churchill, who led the UK through WWII with unwavering determination and resolve. While bombs were falling all over England, Churchill was out with the people and they could see his leadership. Mike believes in visible leadership and maintains an active presence in business operations. He places "the whole" above "the parts" and makes decisions based on what is best for the entire organization.
Mike earned a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of New Haven, in West Haven, Connecticut and a Bachelor of Arts specializing in Communications and English from Allegheny College, in Meadville, Pennsylvania.
